Frequently Asked Questions

Understand More

1. What are your rates?

The cost depends on several factors eg. your requirements, level of difficulty, size of the website, etc.

The best way we can tell you "how much it cost" is by sending you an accurate quotation. In order for us to tabulate an accurate quotation, we'll need you to provide us with information about your project. Our Website Project Questionnaire will help you give us the details we need.

Once we receive your submission, we will send you a quotation based on your requirements.

2. Do you provide free mockups or participate in pitches?

A good website takes weeks of collaboration between both parties, rather than a few days of guess work (a.k.a. pitches / spec work). If you need a good reason to hire us, consider us based on our past work.

Our quotation needs to be approved first followed by an initial 30% payment. We will proceed to work on the design together with your feedback until it meets your requirements and objectives. We don't care how many rounds of changes are needed to make it right, as long as it ultimately turns out the way it should be. If you think that the design still does not meet your requirements, you will not be charged further because the work done so far has been paid with the 30% initial payment.

Having put that aside, 100% of our projects goes from start to finish except for some occasions where the client stops the project based on business reasons not related to the website.

3. What is your process for taking a website from start to finish?

Generally, these are the basic phases to take a project from start to finish:

  1. Initial discussion about your project
  2. Research
  3. Design the layout and look and feel
  4. Design of the rest of the website
  5. Programming of the website
  6. Testing and debugging
  7. Final approval and launch!

On average, a website takes about 1 - 2 months to complete. This depends mostly on the size and difficulty level of your website and how fast feedback can be provided to us. We, just like you, would like to see the website go live as soon as it possibly can.

4. Do you provide web hosting?

We only host websites created by us and on a case by case basis. We use a virtual dedicated server.

Using a virtual dedicated server, this means your website is less prone to downtime as the server resources are dedicated to us only (unlike shared servers).

Also, we have a monitoring system in place to alert us of server downtime, with that we can reboot the server and bring it back to its normal status immediately. This will ensure 24/7 uptime of your website.

5. How many people are in your team?

Hex is founded and run by Ben and Melly. We are honest and reliable people. We like to make impressionable websites. We see our work as an extension of ourselves so we can never bear to put out bad work. So it goes without saying that we take a lot of pride in what we do.

6. I want to hire Hex, what do I do next?

Fill up the request a quote form from our contact page.

In most cases, we will send you a link to our Website Project Questionnaire to request for more information about your project. Your submission will help us tabulate an accurate quote for you and also help us produce better results during the creative process.

You can skip the "request a quote" form and fill up our Website Project Questionnaire straightaway too.

We will follow up with you from there on.

New year, new app - Cranked!
Posted on 2 January 2014

2013 has been a great year. Sendy has been a success for us, thanks to all who supported it by buying a copy and spreading the word.

We have our fourth app ready and it's called, Cranked! Cranked is a self hosted RSS reader where you can run it on your own server like Sendy without paying any monthly fees.

With Cranked, you can 'mobilize' any truncated articles, change fonts and sizes to your own liking and most importantly, sort articles by the best stories. Cranked uses social media metrics from Facebook and Twitter to determine the most popular stories and load them first when you click the toggle button called 'Crank up the feeds!'.

Check Cranked out, we hope you like it. Here's wishing you an awesome 2014!

We are on a roll, our third app!
Posted on 17 August 2012

Sendy baby, where have you been all this time? The answer to our email newsletter woes, Sendy is our latest app that sends trackable email newsletters 100x cheaper via Amazon SES (Simple Email Service). Yes, you read that right! Figuratively, that's 1 cent per 1000 emails.

We knew we couldn't be the only ones out there who thought email newsletters shouldn't have to cost so much. So we are sharing Sendy with you.

Meet our new app, MockVault
Posted on 6 June 2012

We are thrilled to share our second app, MockVault, with you. Akin to our first app–SUBERNOVA, which we built as a solution to manage our projects better–MockVault was created to improve the way we present our mockups.

With MockVault, it is so much easier to walk our clients through mockups without being face-to-face with each other. MockVault bridges that gap. It makes explaining easy to do and getting the message across a breeze.

MockVault has many features but our favourite has to be the Approve button! Why? While it really is just a button, somehow it works better than writing an email. Least that's what we've been told.

Available as a web app, all you need is a browser and an internet connection. So get your mockups annotated and get your designs approved! Go get MockVault.

Wishing you a bright and joyous new year!
